Poetry Slam Success
The 2nd Annual Yangon Inter-Schools Poetry Slam took place at The British School on Thursday 21st of February 2019. Students from four schools participated, with poets ranging from 11 to 18 years of age, delivering inspiring, entertaining and creative performances. Topics ranged from Middle School friendship breakdown, to the shortcomings of the Trump Administration, with plenty in between. All ten acts that travelled from Network International School performed extremely well and should be very proud of their efforts.
A special congratulations goes out to Precious, Apple and Jade of Year 12 who placed 1st in the Key Stage 5 category for their self-conscious satire of performance at a poetry slam, entitled “I’m only here because…”, and Hein Htet Soe and Oakja of Year 9 who came 2nd in the Key Stage 3 category for their very funny and engaging poem, “I’m better than you”. We hope that these students continue to inspire and encourage others to get involved in creative and confidence building activities in school, with a view to participating in the 2020 Poetry Slam.
