Network International School became the first and only school in Myanmar to achieve prestigious BSO Accreditation
On Thursday, 21st March 2024, Network International School hosted its British School Overseas (BSO) Accreditation Announcement for its parents and students with the participation of the Head of Mission of The British Embassy Yangon, HE Ken O'Flaherty.
After two years of preparation and two rounds of thorough inspection by Penta International - an organisation appointed by the UK Department for Education (DfE) to inspect British Schools Overseas, Network International School is now fully accredited as a British School Overseas (BSO); setting a new standard for educational excellence in Myanmar. This marks Network as the first and only British school in the country to attain this prestigious accreditation.
The BSO accreditation is a rigorous process conducted by the UK Department for Education that ensures British schools operating overseas maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and safeguarding. It ensures that schools maintain the same high standards as independent schools in the UK.

The journey to BSO accreditation has been a testament to Network's unwavering commitment to providing a world-class education meeting the highest international standards. Principal Stephen Buckland reflects, "This accreditation reaffirms our position as the premier educational institution in Myanmar. It is a recognition of our dedication to academic excellence and student success. We have been recognised as delivering a standard of education comparable to leading independent schools in the UK, and are now proudly placed amongst the best schools around the globe."

BSO accreditation offers numerous benefits to students, including access to a curriculum that is recognised and respected worldwide, as well as opportunities for international collaboration and exchange programmes. Additionally, BSO accredited schools uphold strict standards of child protection and safeguarding, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment for all students to develop and thrive. As Mrs Carole Kyaing, Founder of Network shared, "The BSO framework emphasises strong academics, a commitment to pastoral care, and a focus on international mindedness, all of which align perfectly with our school's values and goals. This accreditation assures students will receive a high-quality education that prepares them for top universities worldwide, while still fostering creativity, reflection and a love of learning."

Mrs Carole also stated, "Receiving BSO accreditation is a momentous achievement for Network International School and a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community. It's humbling and inspiring to think about how far we've come from our small beginnings; just six students in 1996, to where we are today - the first and only BSO accredited school in Myanmar."
Parents also benefit from BSO accreditation, gaining assurance that their child is receiving a top-quality education that meets rigorous international standards. Ms Tina May Thwin Oo, a Network parent expresses, "As a parent, I am thrilled that Network International School has achieved BSO accreditation. It gives me confidence that my child is receiving a top-quality education that prepares them for success in an increasingly globalised world."

One of the most effective ways to do this is by enrolling them in a school-based Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) programme from as early as 18 months. These formative years are critical for your child’s development, setting the stage for their future learning, social skills and overall wellbeing. But did you know that starting sooner rather than later can significantly enhance your child’s development trajectory?
As part of this year’s schedule for Parents’ Coffee Mornings, we have introduced some topics entitled “How to talk to...” with scripts to help parents have conversations with their children around different topics. To conclude Anti-Bullying Week, for the first Parents’ Coffee Morning of the year, Tr Jon spoke to parents under the title of “How to talk about...Bullying”.
We are delighted to announce the exceptional achievements of our students this year in their IGCSE and A Level exams. Their hard work, dedication and commitment to excellence have once again placed Network International School among the leading international schools of Myanmar, and their successes will secure them their first-choice courses at some of the top universities in the UK, the US and globally.
