COVID-19

The safety and well-being of our students and staff remain our top priority at Network International School. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have implemented a number of procedures to ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for all members of our community.

On this page, you will find information on the measures we have put in place, such as regular cleaning and disinfecting, social distancing, and mandatory use of face coverings if needed to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for our students.

All teachers and students returning to Yangon will have to comply with the Myanmar Governments self-isolate and Covid-19 testing procedures on point of entry to the country.
All staff will be fully vaccinated.
All staff will be asked to wear facemasks journeying into school.
Early Years and Primary campuses will receive a deep clean before students return to school.

Daily on Campus

If possible parents should check their child’s temperature before they leave for school and the child kept at home if they have a temperature above 37.5 or if they Covid-19 symptoms or test positive at any other time. Subsequent medical advice must then be accessed with regard to Covid-19.
On arrival at school staff, students, parents and visitors will have their temperature taken at the gates. If anyone has a temperature above 37.5 degrees they will be asked to go home and seek medical advice and will need to take a Covid-19 test if possible and/or self-isolate for ten days if positive before returning to school.
If any student or staff member presents symptoms during the school day they should be sent to the Bahan Covid-19 isolation room and the doctor notified. The doctor will assess them and if the doctor has any concerns or a temperature is present above 37.5 degrees the student or staff member will have to return home and seek medical advice and will need to take a Covid-19 test if possible and/or self-isolate for ten days if positive before returning to school. The doctor will have PPE in the form of a mask, gloves and apron and the medical room will be fully sanitised before any other person is allowed to enter.
There will be no need for children who have been in contact with an identified positive Covid-19 case to self-isolate and they should continue to attend school on their identified days unless they themselves test positive in which case they will also need to self-isolate for ten days. Please be reassured that for most children Covid-19 is a mild illness.
We will clean and disinfect school buildings, classrooms and especially water and sanitation facilities at least twice a day, particularly surfaces that are touched by many people (railings, lunch tables, sports equipment, door and window handles, teaching and learning aids etc.).
We will increase airflow and ventilation by opening windows whenever possible.
We will promote and demonstrate regular hand washing and positive hygiene behaviours and ensure soap and water is available at all hand washing stations. Hand sanitizers will be available in all locations.
Students will be expected to have all their own equipment or if appropriate will be given an assigned package of equipment which they will be responsible for.
Parents are requested to drop off and pick up their children on time. In particular it is vital that students are not left at school beyond their allotted finish time.
The school campuses will remain locked until 07:30 so that all staff are onsite to manage our Covid-19 response and therefore parents are asked not to arrive earlier than this to drop students off, as students will not be allowed in school.
In the Early Years parents must remain in their cars and Early Years staff will collect their children from the car. Primary students are to be dropped off with parents remaining in their cars at all times.
All student communal water cups will be removed and every student will be required to have their own water bottle. This can be filled in the usual way but a social distancing line will be in place at each water dispenser.
Parents may come to the school for any emergency situation and to pay fees. Outside of this parents are asked not to visit the school unless absolutely necessary. The reception area on both campuses will operate social distancing and a screen will be provided to reduce contact. Instead parents should either telephone the school or email the respective person they need to contact. All the details needed are in our parent handbook and the website.
Staff and students will not be permitted to share food.
Students will be required to wear masks or face shields on arrival at school, at snack and lunch and on departure from school but not in the classroom once seated unless they wish to do so.
Students will not be required to wear school uniform and should attend campus in their own clothes at all times.
