Curriculum

Our curriculum and learning objectives are based on the British National Curriculum, taking into account our culturally diverse group and location.

Learning is a natural progression through different stages. There is a continuum from Preschool through Reception and the Primary years. The whole curriculum across both key stages is spiral in nature with advancing of knowledge and of skills each year. The work in each year group is designed to prepare children for and lead into the next year’s learning. In each curriculum area the foundations are laid in Reception and then knowledge is built upon and added to in the following years. Topics are revisited in greater depth and new more complicated topics are introduced.

To enable the children to engage completely with the curriculum we use a range of teaching styles and approaches. We work in small groups, pairs, as a whole class or as mixed class groups. In the early years, we use songs, games, and first hand experience to produce the maximum amount of learning. In doing so we develop free thinking minds which can predict outcomes, explore new ideas and use existing knowledge to decipher new experiences.

We use resources from the United Kingdom designed for the British Curriculum.

Reception: Reception children will be 4 years of age on entry or will turn 4 in the first month (by July 31st)
                   of school.

Key Stage 1:Children in Year 1 and Year 2 will be aged between 5 and 6years by the end of the first month
                       (by July 31st) of school.

Key Stage 2:Children in Years 3 to 6 will be aged between 7 and 10 years by the end of the first month (by
                       July 31st) of school.

Music, Art and Physical Education are an integral part of our curriculum throughout the Primary years.
Each year we have a number of school wide activities and celebrations which promote our sense of community.
